Absolutely souper!

My brother bought me a soup maker for Christmas. It was going to be a subscription to the National Trust to get me into stately homes and castles but I already have that. So a soup maker it was! Well, I have tried making soup with a blender before which worked but had it challenges.Continue reading “Absolutely souper!”

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I hope that you have had a good break. It was a wonderful sunrise on New Years Day here. As we set sail into 2022 I wonder where it will take us? It has been a while since I posted. I have decided that this year I will do so approximately onceContinue reading “Happy New Year”

Retrospect

Looking back is good. As someone wisely said “Those who don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it mistakes”. Or paraphrasing another person “Foolishness is repeatedly doing the same thing and hoping for different results”. We need to take time to reflect on where we have been in order to better consider whereContinue reading “Retrospect”

The in betweenies…

It’s the day after Boxing Day, a public holiday in the UK, historically celebrating when trades people used to receive their Christmas boxes. Jen has gone back to Liverpool but the signs of Christmas still linger. And it keeps on raining; the infant River Roch was very full yesterday and the path muddy.. So it’sContinue reading “The in betweenies…”

Happy Christmas!

It’s Christmas! as Noddy Holder of Slade used to scream (gosh, I remember the song coming out and battling Wizard for the top slot). It is east to romanticise Christmas but the first Christmas was not nearly as sanitised as the Christmas cards. A teenage mother giving birth to her first born in a borrowedContinue reading “Happy Christmas!”

Preparing for Christmas ðŸŽ„

Life has been busy over the last week and I also haven’t been as organised as I could be. But virtually all the Christmas cards are out and most of the presents are wrapped. And today I put up the Christmas trees. Not the greatest examples of the breed but they brighten up the room.Continue reading “Preparing for Christmas ðŸŽ„”

Joy to the world..

Well, I am way behind on writing my Christmas cards but tomorrow is my youngest daughters birthday 🎂 so we need to celebrate. It is very special for her to do so. There will be joy, especially when her sister arrives to join the celebrations! Two thousand years Angels appeared to shocked shepherds and proclaimedContinue reading “Joy to the world..”

Getting the all clear..

Hospitals. For years I have managed to avoid them but yesterday on the third attempt I had my appointment in day surgery. For the first time in over two decades I had a procedure under General anaesthetic. I have prostate issues and previous tests had shown suspicious marks which the doctor thought may be cancer.Continue reading “Getting the all clear..”

Seeing the unseen…

I was watching the bright light of the sun rays come in through the window while eating breakfast. Normally unseen, there were so many particles moving up and down on the warm updraughts. It was quite a dance! Now I know why my furniture gets so dusty! It struck me, thinking about it, that thereContinue reading “Seeing the unseen…”

Day by day

When my girls were young and we were on a long journey they would utter the immortal phrase “are we nearly there yet”! The countdown to Christmas can seem to take so long for children. And waiting for what we long for in our own lifes can seem to take forever too. Prompting in us,Continue reading “Day by day”
